Candle Care

Learn how to care for your Oak & Wilder candles to make them burn cleaner, last longer, and smell stronger. Our guide covers safe burning, wick trimming, and scent throw tips so you can enjoy every handmade candle to its fullest potential.
CANDLE CARE GUIDE

Trim your wick
Before lighting, trim the wick to around 5 mm. A shorter wick helps prevent soot and keeps your candle burning cleanly.

First burn matters
Let the wax melt evenly across the surface (about 2–3 hours) the first time you light it. This sets the candle’s “memory” and prevents tunnelling.

Keep it clean
Before each burn, remove any wick trimmings or debris to ensure a smooth, even flame.

Don’t overdo it
Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time and allow the candle to cool before relighting.

Stay safe
Always burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface and keep away from drafts, children, and pets. Never leave a burning candle unattended.

When it’s done
Stop using the candle when roughly 10 mm of wax remains to avoid overheating the glass.

WAX MELT CARE GUIDE

How to use
Place one or two melts in your warmer dish. Use an unscented tealight or switch on your electric warmer and let the fragrance slowly fill your space.

Safety first
Always use on a stable, heat-resistant surface and keep away from drafts, children, and pets. Never leave unattended.
Do not place near flammable materials or on delicate surfaces.

Changing & cleaning
When the scent fades, allow the wax to cool and harden before removing. Wipe the dish clean before adding new melts.
Dispose of used wax in the bin — never pour melted wax down the sink.

Do not add water or oils
Wax melts are designed to release fragrance on their own. Adding liquids can cause splattering or overheating.

Storage
Keep melts in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat.

Important
Although tempting (we know they smell delicious), wax melts are not for consumption. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Use only with approved wax melt warmers and follow manufacturer instructions.
